Due dates
When is your inspection due?
A motorcycle has its first técnico-mecánica two years after its matrícula, then one every year. The date in RUNT is the one that counts.

How the date is counted
The first inspection is due when the motorcycle turns two years old, counted from the date of its matrícula (Ley 769 de 2002, art. 52 as replaced by Ley 2294 de 2023, art. 179). After that it is every year.
The exact date of each certificate is in RUNT (runt.gov.co): if you know it, it wins over any calculation. Plan the pre-check two to four weeks before, so there is time for parts.
Riding without a valid inspection is infraction C.35 (15 daily minimum wages and immobilisation); without SOAT it is D.02 (30 and immobilisation).
